Where did I read that poor is the same as pure
or that ignorant people feel controlled by the smart ones
or that serious love is monogamous love
or that marriage is an act of god in disguise?
Where did I read that values
like bubble-gum wrapper fortunes
are a dime a dozen
in the land of the free and the almighty?
Where did I read that an education
like a neurotic condition
chains the important elements
in our brains in our minds in our souls?
Where did I read that reality cakes
are not like theoretical life-bargains
are not purchased in advance
cannot be reserved
are not earned
are not doled out piecemeal?
Where did I read that certain men
like certain women
are born not bred
and appear here then disappear
never to reappear again?
Where did I read that I should not always
believe what I read
even if I wrote what was read?
