The Umpire Plates at the Cosmic Baseball Association

The Good Umpire
It has been suggested that the act of umpiring is 25% physical exertion and 75% mental exertion. The good umpire is not born but bred. Experience is the primary learning tool. The primary goal of the umpire is to make the right decision. Nothing is more important. As the guidelines suggest, "umpire dignity is important but never as important as being right." And getting it right means knowing the rules, seeing the play and correctly applying the rules to the play.
