Jack Kerouac

American Writer

Author of many novels, including On The Road, Dharma Bums, The Subterraneans. Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg were leading exponents of the literary movement known as the Beat Generation.

Kerouac started playing baseball in 1936 for the Dracut Tigers in his home state of Massachusetts. He was 14 and the Tigers were part of the Lowell Recreation Department's W.P.A. league. Reportedly, Kerouac led the team in batting average, home runs, and strikeouts
