Paul Arthur Memorial Game
This personal cosmic baseball game was played in memory of the teacher and film-maker/theorist Paul S. Arthur. The game was played between chapters from two books about the avant-garde filmmaking enterprise. The visiting LINE OF SIGHT team played the VISIONARY FILM team. The players on the home team are derived from the chapters found in the book called Visionary Film: The American Avant-Garde 1943-1978, by P. Adams Sitney and published by the Oxford University Press (2nd Edition). The LINE OF SIGHT players are chapters in a book called A Line of Sight: American Avant-Garde Film since 1965 by Paul Arthur and published by the Regents of the University of Minnesota in 2005.

Cosmic Game Report
This game fell apart for the Krafft-Ebing Mosaics in the third inning when Mosaic starter Brooke Bentley lost control of the ball. She walked four, served up two singles and a bases-loaded (grand-slam) home run. It doesn't much matter what else the team does in the field or at the plate when their pitcher loses it. Bentley lost personal self-control too as witnessed by the altercation in between innings between her and teammate Simona Fountain.
Mosaics @ Dragons
Naturally the veteran Delta Dragons had a field day at the plate and no one was more thrilled, dancing around the base paths then Dragon centerfielder Elvis Presley after he launched his grand slam (on a 1-0 fastball from Bentley) into outerspace and over the rightfield wall.

Cosmic Baseball Teams
UPDATE: Because of Bernard L. Madoff's guilty plea in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, the Cosmic Baseball Association has been asked to withdraw Mr. Madoff as the owner of the newly formed Wall Street Debentures cosmic baseball team. Because of negotiations between federal prosecutors, officials in various government regulatory bodies, and Mr. Madoff's victims, a determination was made to grant ownership of the team to Mr. Carl Shapiro.
Wall Street Debentures Restructured
Anticipating this eventuality, Mr. Shapiro and his management team have already redesigned and repopulated the team's active roster. Mr. Shapiro, a long time friend and business associate of Mr. Madoff is recognized as one of the most victimized of Madoff's victims in terms of dollar amounts.
Gone are all the original players of the Debentures. In their place, Shapiro has repopulated the team with Madoff family members.
While it is unusual for such a radical change to occur just three days before the start of the regulated season, all changes and management assignments have been accepted by the Cosmic Baseball Association. Therefore, the rebuilt Debentures will take to the cosmic playing field on Opening Day, the Ides of March (Sunday March 15, 2009).

Personal Cosmic Game
The Jack Kerouac Memorial Cosmic Baseball Game is played annually on Jack Kerouac's birthday. Had he survived, Kerouac would be celebrating his 87th birthday today.
2009 Jack Kerouac Memorial Game
How different is America today compared to the America Kerouac departed from in 1969?
While packet-switching technology was emerging at the end of the 1960s, this cosmic baseball game could not have been played because there were no "websites" to connect to in 1969. Some chronologists tie the birth of the internet to the installation of the first Information Message Processors (IMPs). The first IMPs were functioning less than two months before Kerouac died. Still, the "www" part of the internet was not tangible until 1989.

Pre Season Notes
Eight cosmic baseball teams, including two new teams, begin regulated season play on Sunday March 15, the Ides of March.
Some notable changes include active rosters are now limited to 12 players. This change required some veteran teams to deactivate players they had not planned to deactivate.
The roster limitation also limits the number of rookies coming into the regulated Overleague this season. (The cosmic Underleague remains active and bubbles up with potential talent.)
Of the 96 cosmic baseball players this season, 29 are rookies, 24 are non-humanoid, 22 are female (including 13 female rookies). Nine (9) fields are represented. (See cosmic player "Summary Tables")

New Cosmic Baseball Team
The Cosmic Baseball Association announced the creation of a new regulated cosmic baseball team: the KRAFFT-EBING MOSAICS will join CBA for Season 2009. The Mosaics are a team of interesting women and therefore are thematically related to the Orchomena Dahlias (created October 11, 2007/deactivated October 21, 2008) and the Vestal Virgins (created July 15, 1982/deactivated March 11, 2006).
